Seven shibori dyed fabric lengths using various resist techniques
While one can attempt to create a specific pattern through a conscious placement of a resist, the dying process is inherently unpredictable. This project allowed me to freely experiment with pattern and embrace the element of the unknown rather than trying to control every aspect.
Step 1: Use stitching, woodblocks, binder clips, clothespins, and rubber bands as resist techniques
Step 2: Place fabric pieces in an immersion dye bath
Step 3: Laser cut a geometric pattern into the hem and sew into a skirt
