Pattern Design Using Photos

Pattern design using personal photographs as a base image

This project forced me to view the built environment in a new way. I started deconstructing the forms around me and seeing elements that could potentially create a compelling pattern when isolated in a photograph and then reflected and repeated. These repeat patterns can be applied to a variety of surfaces, such as fabrics and electronic cases.

Step 1: Take photograph
Step 2: Edit photograph {color, perspective correction}
Step 3: Reflect image horizontally and vertically
Step 4: Arrange images into a pattern and repeat

  1. You are totally amazing!!! I LOVE all of your creative designs. You are definitely on your way to becoming a sought after textile designer.

  2. I love how you explain the process! I’ve been wondering how to put into words what the heck I’ve been doing for the past few years.

    I love your creativity, your art! Good luck to you. Come out to California sometime!
