The piece consists of seven layers as follows (from back to front): PETG, eucalyptus leaves cut out of Bristol paper, 1/8-inch acrylic, flowers cut out of mylar, 1/8-inch acrylic, flowers cut out of birch barc wood, PETG.
The 1/8-inch clear acrylic separates the laser cut layers and creates depth. Displaying the laser cut pieces in between transparent layers of PETG and acrylic was intended to enhance the airy and ethereal quality of the leaves and flowers, while also allowing the piece to coordinate with any colored wall. This piece is photographed below against a brown surface.
The final size of the laser cut work is approximately 15 x 16 inches.
